Morales Method® Core Integration or MMCI is a newly modified version of Structural Integration created by Marty Morales, Advanced Certified Rolfer. Each session focuses on a specific part of the body to create cumulative benefits over the course of 9 sessions. In addition, each part of the body is worked in a specific sequence that seeks to bring things back to basics by reinforcing the natural neural-motor connections that were formed as an infant. By the end of the nine sessions, you can expect to explore multiple new ways of moving that can eliminate patterns that cause chronic pain. This series is also designed to improve the quality of your posture and create functional ease that can potentially reduce your risk for injury.

Who is Marty Morales?

Marty Morales, Advanced Certified Rolfer is the founder of the Morales Method® of Manual Therapy and Body Conditioning. He currently has a private practice in San Francisco where he combines over 12 years of experience and training to bring his clients to the next level of functional and body awareness. In addition, his method is being taught internationally to help people live pain free lives.

How is Structural Integration different than massage?

Structural Integration looks at the body as a whole and creates a course of action by watching you walk before you get on the table to try and find compensation patterns that have developed due to injury or trauma. Throughout the session you will continue to walk several times to allow for additional body reading and visual assessments. The work is not immediate, and typically takes a few sessions before you start to feel the benefits. Finally, oil or lotion is not used to allow for deeper fascia work.

What should I wear?

It is recommended that you wear sport shorts (or boxer briefs) and a sports bra (for women) to save time getting on and off the table.

How is the Morales Method® Core Integration series different from other forms of structural integration or Rolfing?

Rolfing was developed by Ida Rolf and traditionally is done in a series of 10. You have to train at the Rolf Institute under one of Ida’s students to become a Certified Rolfer. Many of her students have created their own methodology, updating her techniques with recent research and their own findings. Marty is no different. While he worked on clients, he found that he always saved rotation for last. This started his research on the Order of Complexity based on early stages of motor development.
